Presenter: Leonardo Piovesan Mendonça is the Manager for Occupational Health and Quality of Life at the Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz (HAOC). The philanthropic not-for-profit private hospital in São Paulo has received numerous awards in Brazil and won the Global Healthy Workplace Award for Large Enterprises this year. Leonardo is a Medical Doctor who received his specialization in three areas: Geriatrics, Occupational Health and Hospital Administration and has been with HAOC since 2010, the Occupational Health and Quality of Life manager since 2016. He currently serves on the ABQV (Brazilian Quality of Life Association) Council and is a standing member of ICOH (International Commission on Occupational Health).

On September 6th 2018, the Global Alliance for Healthy Workplaces hosted the 3rd roundtable meeting. This partnership between the Global Centre for Healthy Workplaces and FIESC/SESI brings together leading international stakeholders in the field of workplace health and safety in order to craft a global strategic plan and more effective actions leading to healthy workplaces and the promotion of worker health worldwide.

Roberto Moretti on Achieving Workplace Health Policy in Italy

GCHW spoke with Roberto Moretti, Medical Director, ATS Bergamo at the 6th Global Healthy Workplace Awards and Summit, Bergamo, Italy, 6-7 September 2018 with regards to his recommendation on achieving workplace health policy in Italy.

MD, MPH and Certificate in Community and in Tropical Medicine. Responsible of the Health Promotion Unit at ATS of Bergamo.

Roberto Moretti has worked in West Africa for 4 years and participated in drafting projects and evaluations in Europe and in more than 10 and Asian and African countries He has experience in teaching at various Italian and foreign universities and is an author of over 50 publications in international and national journals.

Among his most significant projects in public health: the “Piedibus” (Walk to school) the Workplace Health Promotion program of the Lombardy Region, the organization of breast cancer screening program in Bergamo and colon cancer screening in Lecco, and the development of pilot project on antiretroviral therapy for HIV in Zimbabwe.

Stephen Bevan on Occupational Health Recommendations for SMEs and The Impact of Technology and AI on Workplace Health

Interview with Stephen Bevan, Head of HR Research Development, Institute for Employment Studies at the 6th Global Healthy Workplace Awards and Summit Bergamo, Italy, 6-7 September 2018.

Stephen Bevan gives his recommendations on how SMEs can improve their workplace health programmes and discusses the impact of technology and AI on healthy workplaces.

Professor Stephen Bevan, an Honorary Professor at Lancaster University, returned to IES as Head of HR Research Development in April 2016. Stephen was previously Director of Research at The Work Foundation.

Stephen has conducted research on high-performance work practices, employee reward strategy, staff engagement and retention, and ‘good work’. He has a special interest in workforce health and wellbeing, having led a number of national and international projects focusing on workforce health and the impact of chronic illness on productivity and social inclusion.

Stephen is an advisor to a number of UK government departments and has advised employers and policymakers in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Australasia and North America. He has received a special award from GAMIAN-Europe for his contribution to the field of mental health and is a reviewer for several academic journals, including The Lancet; a regular columnist for HR Magazine; a judge at the Global Healthy Workplace Awards; and is a member of Public Health England’s Health & Work Advisory Board, and the Health and Work Group of the Public Health Responsibility Deal. Stephen has also been Chair of the UK Fit for Work Coalition.
